Savannah James explained the family’s decision during Vanity Fair’s September 13, 2022 profile of the James family. Looking back at the years when Zhuri was a baby, Savannah said, “You try to keep things as sacred as you can.” She then gave a rare explanation of just how carefully she and LeBron handled their daughter’s early exposure, saying, “Back when she was born, we didn’t show her. No one saw her until LeBron won his 2016 championship”Savannah was not saying that Zhuri’s birth had been kept secret. Her arrival was publicly reported in October 2014. What she meant was that the family chose not to put their baby daughter on display during those first years. That distinction is important because LeBron’s life already attracted intense attention, and even ordinary family moments could quickly become public.The couple had two sons growing up alongside Zhuri, too. During the celebration that followed, Zhuri became part of a huge public moment alongside her father.Savannah later pointed to that championship as the occasion when people finally saw Zhuri publicly. She was only 20 months old, and her appearance came during one of the happiest nights of LeBron’s career rather than through a carefully planned celebrity introduction.
