RAE BARELI: A brief exchange outside the Rae Bareli Collectorate on Wednesday added a political twist to Rahul Gandhi’s constituency visit, after a few people were heard shouting “naraaz fufa” as the Congress MP arrived for a DISHA meeting.The phrase, used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a swipe at political opponents he says are never satisfied with India’s progress, appeared to be directed at Gandhi as he entered the Collectorate.Modi had revived the “naraaz fufa” jibe at an event in Vadodara on Tuesday, saying there were people who kept finding reasons to complain despite the country’s progress.Rahul Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to Rae Bareli, was at the Collectorate to chair a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA).The meeting is reviewing the implementation of central government schemes, pending issues and action taken on directions issued at previous meetings.The brief slogan-shouting outside the venue came amid heightened political activity in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the state assembly elections.Gandhi is also scheduled to meet bullion traders and representatives of the Central Bar Association during his visit. Delegations of sportspersons, medical professionals and chemists are also expected to meet the Congress leader.He is further scheduled to visit flood-affected areas in Shivgarh and Maharajganj, where he will take stock of the situation and interact with residents.The Rae Bareli visit is significant for Gandhi as he steps up constituency outreach while political parties prepare for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.(With agency inputs)
