US President Donald Trump on Thursday said oil prices were “plummeting” and gasoline prices were continuing to fall, as he ‘promised’. He further announced that a “Freedom Fuel Network” would offer discounted prices at 25 stations in the Greater Philadelphia area ahead of America’s 250th birthday celebrations.In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the Freedom Fuel Network would lower gas prices on July 3 at 25 “Freedom Fuel” stations, calling it a “Happy Birthday” gesture for the people of Philadelphia.“Oil Prices are plummeting FAST, and Gas Prices at the pump are dropping too, but not as fast as they should be,” Trump wrote.“As we approach America’s 250th Birthday, I am pleased to announce that… the Freedom Fuel Network will be lowering gas prices at 25 ‘FREEDOM FUEL’ Stations across the Greater Philadelphia Area,” he said, urging other retailers to follow suit.Trump also linked the announcement to his broader economic message, saying America had “never been stronger” and claiming gas prices would soon return to the record lows seen before the US’ “very successful excursion” in Iran.The US is marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4 with events across the country, with Philadelphia, the birthplace of the Declaration, playing a central role in the celebrations.
