The wedding hall has been closely linked with the superstar for decades and has also been used for fan meetings and activities involving his fan clubs. Now, the property is said to be making way for a new commercial development.

According to a Cinema Vikatan report, Rajinikanth’s Raghavendra Mandapam is set to be demolished, with a three-star hotel reportedly planned at the site. The report states that construction work could begin in the coming months. The development has drawn attention because of the venue’s long association with the actor. However, an official announcement regarding the proposed hotel project, its timeline or construction plans is yet to be made.

The property has had a special place in Rajinikanth’s journey outside cinema as well. The mandapam was used for weddings but also became a familiar venue for meetings with his fans and discussions related to his fan clubs. According to the Cinema Vikatan report, there were several hurdles before the property was finally developed into the mandapam. Rajinikanth would reportedly visit the venue when important decisions involving his fan organisations had to be discussed. The building consequently became more than a regular wedding hall for many of his followers.

The proposed change has also brought back stories about the help extended by Rajinikanth through the venue. A person quoted by Cinema Vikatan recalled receiving financial assistance after Rajinikanth learned about his hospitalisation. The actor reportedly asked his son to visit the mandapam, where he was handed a cheque for a substantial amount. The person described the venue as a place where several people had quietly received help over the years.

On the movie front, Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of ‘Jailer 2,’ directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film is set to hit screens on October 15, with its audio launch also expected soon. Composer Anirudh is reportedly set to perform live at the event. Rajinikanth is also shooting for ‘Dharman,’ directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, with the current schedule taking place in Mysuru.
