He encouraged citizens to buy and wear handloom products, saying that every purchase strengthens the livelihoods of lakhs of weavers while preserving the country’s centuries-old cultural heritage.

“Just as you celebrated Friendship Day with great warmth, celebrate Handloom Day too,” the PM said, urging people to make handloom a part of their daily lives rather than limiting it to a symbolic occasion. He noted that every handloom product carries with it the story of an artisan’s hard work, skill and dedication.PM Modi also highlighted the role of India’s weaving community in keeping traditional crafts alive across generations.
