Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLC Electric in India on November 4, 2026. The SUV will be assembled at the company’s Chakan plant in Pune and will arrive in the 400 4Matic version. Bookings are expected to open in October. Mercedes-Benz says the Indian launch will come just six months after the model went on sale in Europe, making it the fastest global model from the brand to be locally assembled in India.The GLC Electric 400 4Matic uses a 94kWh battery and has a claimed WLTP range of up to 715km. Its two electric motors power all four wheels and produce 490hp and 800Nm. Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100kph time of 4.3 seconds, despite the SUV weighing around 2.5 tonnes.The electric SUV supports DC charging at up to 330kW. The company claims a 10-minute charge can add enough energy for up to 300km of range. The international-specification model also gets air suspension and rear-wheel steering with up to 4.5 degrees of steering angle.The GLC Electric gets a wide front grille with illuminated elements, projector LED headlights and star-shaped LED daytime running lights. Its design also includes flush door handles, wheel-arch cladding and alloy wheels of up to 21 inches.At the rear, the SUV gets star-shaped LED tail-lights with circular outlines, connected by a gloss-black strip. The front Mercedes logo is illuminated, while the rear gets a solid 3D badge. Internationally, the 400 4Matic can also be specified with an AMG Line package, which adds a different grille and sportier alloy wheels.The GLC Electric gets a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which Mercedes-Benz says is its largest car display. It combines the driver’s instrument screen, central infotainment display and passenger screen into one unit.The system runs on fourth-generation MBUX software and includes an AI assistant. The SUV also retains physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console, while seating is provided for five occupants.The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is expected to cost between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, which is expected to launch in India in 2027.
