A similar scheme for SC students
Madhya Pradesh also runs the Scheduled Caste Boys/Girls Housing Assistance Scheme, which provides monthly rental assistance to eligible Scheduled Caste (SC) students pursuing higher education outside their native town or village. While both schemes offer housing assistance of up to Rs 2,000 per month, depending on the student’s place of study, their eligibility criteria differ. The ST Housing Assistance Scheme is meant for Scheduled Tribe students who do not have access to government hostel facilities. The SC scheme, on the other hand, is available only to Scheduled Caste college students who meet the income criteria prescribed under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme and are studying away from their hometown. Both schemes are implemented by the Madhya Pradesh government to reduce accommodation costs for students from socially disadvantaged communities and enable them to continue higher education.
