Indian tourists turn Vietnam airport into 'Bhandara' spot; Internet says, 'Hamara nikalna band karwa denge ye log... poore duniya mein desh ko badnaam karo'

A group of Indian tourists has managed to land right in the middle of a massive online brawl after a video of them having what looked like a full-on traditional bhandara inside a Vietnam airport went viral. And while a few people tried to defend it as harmless fun, plenty of others were deeply embarrassed. The clip shows several travelers sitting together right on the floor of an airport terminal, eating a heavy meal off plates laid over spread-out newspapers. A couple of guys in the group even wave happily at the camera while chewing, completely unbothered by the fact that they’ve set up a roadside feast in the middle of an international transit zone.Once the clip hit social media, especially X – the backlash hit immediate critical mass over setting up a community dining space in an airport. The noise picked up when X user @ashishisdumb reshared a post originally put out by @Hrishukesh Shinde. Shading the whole setup, the post read:“Very proud to tell y’all that our fellow Indians organized a bhandara inside terminal building of an airport in Vietnam. I would request everyone travelling abroad, please don’t consider organizing this kinda setup in any airport.”Predictably, the comment section erupted into an all-out civil war.A huge chunk of viewers laid into the tourists, pointing out that an airport terminal isn’t a dhaba. One person sighed,“Hamara nikalna band karwa denge ye log.”Another user chimed in to say this wasn’t even an isolated incident, writing,“Yeh toh kuch bhi nahi hai. Indigo flight je andar hua tha 45 mins flight duration mein.”Then came the comment that basically summed up the collective frustration of half the internet:“Poore duniya mai desh ko badnaam karo 🫡 ek bhi country mat chhodo 👏”Still, a small contingent didn’t think it was that big of a deal, arguing that people were just outrage-farming over a family eating lunch. Defending the group, one user wrote,“But they are just having good family time and enjoying themselves, they are not bothering anyone.”Critics weren’t having any of that defense, though. One response called out the sheer audacity of it all:“Why so much entitlement? Indians think they are always right and can do anything.”Another user zeroed in on basic public manners, adding,“Indians should leave chalta hai attitude immediately if they really wish to be respected across globe communities.”Others wondered how security even let it slide in the first place.“Why Indians take pride in such uncivilized behaviour? Why the authorities concerned tolerate this?” read another comment.Whether you see it as a harmless family picnic or a total lack of civic sense, the video has once again kicked off that uncomfortable conversation about how we act when traveling overseas. For one side, it was just folks sharing food. For everyone else, it’s a cringey reminder that going on vacation doesn’t turn a public terminal into your personal living room.Either way, the internet is definitely not letting this one go quietly.
