MUMBAI: The father of a dalit IIT-B student who died by suicide in 2023, Darshan Solanki, was detained by Powai police along with others protesting caste discrimination on the campus on Monday.According to a letter signed by the father, Rameshbhai Solanki, which was shared online, he sought a meeting with IIT-B director Shireesh Kedare to discuss steps taken after the three deaths by suicide at the institute this year.The protesters were denied entry into campus. Tejaswin Anoopkumar, one of the protesters, alleged that he was “brutally manhandled” by police and that his clothes were torn.
