NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah on Friday said India will soon become a major centre for all activities linked to sports, be it hosting international games including Olympics, emerging as a sports training and coaching hub that will cater to both national and international sportspersons, or for management of sports injuries.Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the World Archery Para Series, being organised in Ahmedabad from Sept 5 to 9, via video-conferencing, Shah extended a warm welcome to around 108 para-athletes from 19 nations who will participate in the championship.“This event will generate great memories for both you and Ahmedabad….In the days to come, Ahmedabad, Gujarat and Bharat are set to emerge as key centres for hosting major international games like Olympics and paralympics and for various sporting activities, sports training, sports facilities and also manufacturing of sports equipment. As part of this complete vision, under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji, India is moving forward to become the biggest global hub for sports,” he stated.Shah said the intention behind organising the world archery para-series was not just to win medals but to promote sports being played as part of Olympics, Asian, Commonwealth and police games. “The major sports coaching facilities being developed in Ahmedabad will not just benefit local and domestic players; they are being developed as per international standards and will cater to sportspersons from across the world. In the days to come, India will become a global pioneer in the sports injury field of medical science, and Gujarat will become its major hub” said the home minister.While welcoming the international para-athletes and extending best wishes to Indian participants, Shah said he was confident that Ahmedabad, which has hosted 10 international sporting events over the past decade and shall also be hosting the 100th edition of the Commonwealth Games, will also win the bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.

“The archery paraseries is a good opportunity for you to know India and Gujarat,” he said while advising the international sportspersons to visit and experience tourist attractions like Somnath temple, Ekta Nagar and Dwarka.Nineteen nations including Bhutan, China, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Indonesia and the US are participating in the archery championship.
