BARWANI: A human foetus carried by a stray dog through a residential colony in Barwani on Saturday belonged to a woman from a rural area under Pati police station, whose family had buried it after a premature delivery, police said.The incident caused panic in Brij Vihar Colony in Ward 21 around 8 am. Eyewitness Mahesh Yadav said he saw a dog sniffing garbage near a milk dairy before it brought what appeared to be a baby and dropped it on the road.He chased the dog as it ran towards Tirchi Puliya and Ranipura with the foetus in its mouth. The dog later dropped it between tyres of parked motorcycles and appeared to be trying to eat it. Yadav drove it away and recovered the foetus.Concern grew after an apparent hospital seal was noticed on it. Ward 21 councillor Shankar Kushwaha informed police, which began an inquiry.Kotwali station in-charge BS Bisen said a woman from a rural area under Pati police station had developed complications on October 1 and delivered a foetus of around six months. Her family buried it in a pit near a drain, from where stray dogs dug it out and carried it to Brij Vihar, he said.Police have verified the circumstances, Bisen added.
