MP shocker: Man attacks wife at hospital for ‘birthing daughter’

BHOPAL: A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his 35-year-old wife in the gynaecology ward of Gwalior’s Kamla Raja Hospital on Wednesday after she delivered twins, including a son and a daughter. He was supposedly incensed at his wife for birthing a girl child, the woman’s family claimed.The attack was motivated by gender bias, the woman’s father alleged. He filed a formal police complaint demanding strict action against the accused. Cops launched an investigation.The woman had recently delivered twins via C-section. According to hospital sources, a fierce argument broke out between the couple when the husband came to visit her at the facility. Thereafter, the accused allegedly attacked his wife, causing her facial injuries and unleashing chaos in the post-operative ward.While the woman’s kin claimed that the accused used a sharp weapon, police officers said the husband had forcefully grabbed and covered his wife’s mouth during the scuffle, resulting in facial scratches caused by his ring and fingernails.
