‘Wanted to urinate’: Gurgaon hit-and-run accused Kalyan Bainsla injured after 'trying to escape' police custody

GURGAON: The accused in the Golf Course Road hit-and-run case was injured after he allegedly tried to flee from police custody following his arrest in Rajasthan, police said on Tuesday.Kalyan Singh Bainsla fell while attempting to escape and was apprehended by the police again, officials said.Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said Bainsla told investigators that he wanted to urinate before attempting to flee. He allegedly ran away but fell and sustained injuries before police caught him again.Bainsla and his cousin Lavish were arrested in Rajasthan after police traced them in connection with the case involving a woman biker who was allegedly rammed by a car on Golf Course Road.According to police, Bainsla had borrowed the car from a friend and allegedly used it in the incident. Police said he runs gyms in Palwal.The accused had fled to Rajasthan after giving his statement to the media, police said.Police have added attempt-to-murder charges in the case based on the victim’s statement and analysis of CCTV footage, which investigators said showed Bainsla deliberately ramming his car into the woman’s motorcycle.Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with attempt to murder, was subsequently added to the FIR. Police have also invoked Sections 78 and 79 of the BNS.“We are yet to interrogate both of them, but Kalyan passed obscene comments too,” DCP Sandeep Kumar said.Police said the attempt-to-murder section was added after investigators examined CCTV footage from the area and recorded the victim’s statement.
