The NFL star recently bought a sprawling lakefront property in Bratenahl, near Cleveland, hoping to have a private retreat close to where he grew up. But plans for a new fence have already raised concerns among nearby residents about their views of Lake Erie.

The 21,000-square-foot Tudor-style estate sits on roughly 3.5 acres and includes eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a theater, wine cellar, fitness center and sauna. A separate two-bedroom guest cottage is also part of the estate.One of its more unusual features is a former Prohibition-era speakeasy. The space has since been converted into a game room, adding another piece of history to the already distinctive property.The reported fence plans became a talking point among neighbors after concerns emerged that the structure could interfere with views of the lake. According to reports, the original proposal included extending the fence all the way toward the beach. That portion was later dropped following discussions between the property owners and nearby residents.Bratenahl Mayor Keith Benjamin said the village has experience welcoming high-profile residents while respecting their need for privacy.“We’re used to this in Bratenahl,” Benjamin told The New York Times. “Being a welcoming community includes giving people the space to be at home, whether they’re an average resident or the most famous person in the world.”Benjamin also stressed that privacy should not come at the expense of being a good neighbor.“We take pride in being a welcoming community where people can feel connected to their lives and also feel comfortable enjoying their private lives,” Keith Benjamin told News 5. “You know, part of being a good neighbor is offering a warm welcome and also giving people the privacy and the space to simply be at home — no matter who lives next door.”

He grew up in nearby Cleveland Heights with his older brother Jason Kelce, who later became a longtime Philadelphia Eagles center.That connection helps explain why an Ohio property could appeal to the Chiefs star.
