Delhi Police dismissed as fake a viral newspaper clipping claiming the death of Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke, confirming he is safe and healthy.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Friday dismissed as fake a newspaper clipping circulating on social media that falsely claimed the death of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet DipkeThe police warned of strict legal action against those responsible for creating and sharing the misinformation.In a clarification issued through its official social media handle, the police said the viral newspaper clipping was fabricated and urged people not to believe or circulate unverified information.“A fabricated newspaper clipping falsely claiming the death of Abhijeet Dipke is fake. He is fit, healthy and safe. This is malicious and strict legal action will be taken against those creating and spreading such fake content,” police said.Police appealed to the public not to amplify unverified claims and advised them to rely only on information released through official sources.The CJP-led protest intensified after the party’s July 20 ‘Sansad Chalo’ march towards Parliament, which ended in clashes between protesters and police.The agitation began at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 20, demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, reforms in the education system and the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.(With inputs from PTI)
