US firefighters rescued a dog found swimming in the San Francisco Bay after it went missing on the Fourth of July. The firefighters brought it safely to the shore, according to Fox News.The Menlo Park Fire Protection District received a call on Thursday about a dog entering the water, the officials said.The first responders carried out the rescue operation using binoculars, then a drone, to locate the dog. The team reached the pup using a boat and found it paddling in the bay. The department later released footage of the dog rescue on social media.As per reports, an explosion of fireworks on the Fourth of July scared the dog off, and he ran away to escape the panic. A Facebook post by the firefighters featured several pictures of the rescue, including the black dog wrapped in a firefighter’s jacket, with a caption, “Thank you to everyone who helped reunite this furry friend with its family.”The East Palo Alto police department also released footage showing the dog being followed by seagulls in the water. According to InMenlo, the dog was rescued a half mile off the shore.Authorities later turned it over to the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), which located the pup’s family and returned it.A woman claiming to be the dog’s owner thanked the fire district in a social media post. She wrote, “I want to thank the entire rescue team from the bottom of my heart. These last 2 weeks were a lot of agony not knowing about my dog.”“My heart started beating so hard when I received the call from the SPCA team. I would never be able to thank you enough for her rescue and for bringing her back to her home. Forever grateful,” she added.
