The aircraft, carrying 181 passengers, landed at 10.01am local time after being diverted from its original destination, Warsaw Chopin Airport. The airport was closed while authorities waited for bomb disposal experts to arrive. Modlin Airport spokesman Adam Szabłowski was reported by GB News stating: “A plane from London landed at Modlin Airport at 10:01am. There are 181 people on board. The airport has been closed. We are waiting for bomb disposal experts.”The airport had earlier said the aircraft landed safely and that security services were verifying the reported threat. It said the bomb alert concerned a flight from London Heathrow to Warsaw Chopin Airport. The incident comes after a separate bomb threat yesterday forced a Wizz Air flight travelling from London Luton to Sofia to divert to Budapest on Monday. Hungarian Gripen fighter jets escorted the Airbus A321neo to Budapest, where it landed safely at around 12.09pm local time.Wizz Air said security checks on the aircraft and passengers had been completed and nothing suspicious was found. The airline said it was cooperating with authorities and that the aircraft was expected to resume its journey.Hungarian defence minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi said the country’s air-defence alert system had issued an alert after the bomb threat was reported. A Gripen fighter jet took off within minutes and escorted the aircraft to Budapest before returning to its base. Police took charge of the incident after the landing.
